📢 Global Poverty & Institutional Decision-Making Fellowship
Approximately 1 in 10 people worldwide live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $1.90. This crisis has profound implications for health, education, and overall well-being, yet remains one of the most complex and under-discussed global issues.
This six-week fellowship will explore key topics such as global health, morality, effective giving, our role in the world, and institutional decision-making. With weekly readings (1-2 hours), presentations from experts, and in-depth discussions, you’ll gain valuable insights into the field and what working in it entails.
📅 Duration: 6 weeks (April/May)
⏳ Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/week
👤 Responsible: Lili
🔬 Uganda Research Committee
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) account for one-third of all deaths in Uganda, many of which could be prevented with better access to essential medicines. Despite the affordability of treatments like antimalarial drugs, supply chain inefficiencies leave rural areas without life-saving pharmaceuticals. Uganda currently imports 90% of its medicine, primarily from Asia.
This committee is working on a data-driven strategy for local pharmaceutical manufacturing, analyzing government import data, refining financial models, and engaging international investors. If you're interested in global health, economics, or impact-driven research, this is your chance to contribute!
