PISE Board I

2020/2021

Rotterdam is a city with people that have a can-do attitude. So when these six Rotterdammerts started building an organisation from the ground up, not even a pandemic could stop them in making it successful. A year and many zoom calls and online events later we can only be proud at what they have built: A tight-knit community of students that are ambitious about social impact. Together we are becoming better at making the world a better place.

Robert Praas

With experience at Extraordinary Life, the Red Cross, Impact Centre Erasmus and Rainforest Connection, PISE has been the cherry on Robert's cake. He is super proud of the growth and beautiful connections that were made during the founding year. Next year he will support PISE whilst pursuing a Machine Learning master in Stockholm!

Chiara Arkesteijn

Chiara has a background in Work and Organisational Psychology (MSc) and she teaches Professional Development at RSM, as well as the course Creating Positive Impact. In PISE, she leads the Bookclub & In-Depth Team. She is passionate about helping people fulfil their potential, in their own development as well as for doing good. Chiara loves to use non-violent communication to investigate her own and other’s world-views, to see where change can take shape.

Amarins Veringa

Amarins is the proud initiator of PISE. She has been an effective altruism enthousiast for five years and found the most exciting part of building PISE discovering that so many other students are also passionate about making an impact! After the board year, she’ll be interning at the Happier Lives Institute and finishing her master’s in Methodology & Statistics before flying out into the real world. She hopes to stay involved as part of the supervisory board and a host of vegan dinner parties.

Koen Schoenmakers

Koen's experience is truly interdisciplinary. He holds a bachelor in Philosophy, a Master in Social Psychology as well as degrees in Journalism and Public Administration. Within PISE he loves writing, strategy, culture building, fundraising and teaching. He has put these skills to use in leading the career team and the growth hacking team, teaching the course Creating Positive Impact, and by incubating the fundraising team and the big speaker committee.

Joris Pijpers

Joris is extremely proud to be part of PISE, or what he calls "the most inspiring community on our lovely Mother Earth". Studying at Erasmus University College, he has always been challenged to go the extra mile, but after volunteering with the Food Bank in Rotterdam, interning with ProVeg and Inuka Coaching and working for the EU and EUR, he can truly say PISE is the coolest project he has been part of. Filled with innovative ideas, rays of sunlight and a passion for doing good, Joris will continue his work with PISE in the second board!

Sanne Veringa

Within the board Sanne was responsible for the Growth Hacking Team as well as the Community Committee. She also worked on getting PISE registered as an official organisation and she kept an eye on the finances. After a year of putting lots off positive energy into PISE Sanne will work on broadening her skillset. She will not let PISE out of her sight: Next year Sanne will stay active in the community by being in committees and hosting events.
